Ted Anchor and a district counselor have left their posts under mysterious circumstances and say they have been advised not to speak.
After a grueling four weeks on the job, the mayor of Lillooet, British Columbia has resigned alongside a district counselor. Mayor Ted Anchor said he had no choice because he ran on a platform of honesty and felt his principles were being compromised. The council has faced tough issues in recent years, including a controversy surrounding water safety after large amounts of arsenic were found in tap water. The council also recently sought a $2.5 million loan to resolve flooding in the Conway-ville area and debated over a bylaw that would require residents to seek a permit before meeting in public.
