The singer remains the last person standing to pursue criminal charges against Rupert Murdoch's News International.

Charlotte Church, the world-famous pop-classical singer from Wales, is the only victim of the News of the World phone-hacking scandal that has refused to accept an out-of-court settlement from Rupert Murdoch's News International, meaning her case will in all likelihood be headed to a very public trial this month. Church's lawyers allege that reporters from NoW hacked her and her parents' phones for four years. Those hacks reportedly led to 33 articles that ran in the tabloid, including one headlined, "Church in three in a bed cocaine shock." The article, and a couple subsequent ones, alleged that Church's father was having extramarital affairs involving cocaine and threesomes – charges that led Church's mother to attempt suicide. NoW had also previously published a countdown clock to Church's 16th birthday, when the singer turned the age of consent in the United Kingdom. Needless to say, members of the Church family aren't Rupert Murdoch's biggest fans. The presiding judge has given the OK for the trial to proceed, and, barring any last-minute antics, the trial will get underway on Feb. 27.
