Doug Mann

Adjunct professor, Media Studies and Sociology, University of Western Ontario.
Doug Mann is adjunct professor in the faculty of information and media studies at the University of Western Ontario. He specializes in popular culture, culture studies, technology and communications theory, science fiction, comics, and philosophy, and his work has appeared in Dialogue: The Canadian Philosophical Review, The Ottawa Citizen, The Calgary Herald, Saturday Night, and many other publications.

The second edition of Mann's book Understanding Society: A Survey of Modern Social Theory (Oxford University Press) was published in September 2010 and is the only major text on modern social theory in print in Canada. He is also working on essays that will interpret comics and graphic novels in philosophical and political terms in connection with the lectures that he is currently writing.
