David Vallance

Contributor Biography
David Vallance was born in Thornhill, grew up in Richmond Hill, and moved to downtown Toronto when he was 18. He has a deep affection for Toronto and advocates for the formation of a Province of Toronto.
Vallance studied economics at the University of Toronto and went into the life insurance business after graduating. In the late 1970s, Vallance became a member of the Annex Residents Association (ARA). He then became the ARA’s representative at the Confederation of Residents and Ratepayers Association (CORRA), the umbrella group for all residents’ groups in Toronto. He was chair of CORRA for three years. He was also chair of Taxpayers Against Megacity, which organized the largest residents’ meeting ever held in North York. After amalgamation, he was instrumental in forming a group advocating property tax reform, with people from Oakville, Orillia, and Peterborough.
Vallance ran for council in 1998 and was a candidate for mayor of Toronto in 2006.
