Contributor Biography
Thomas S. Axworthy is the President and CEO of the Walter and Duncan Gordon Foundation. He is noted for his contribution to public policy through his chairmanship of the Centre for the Study of Democracy at the School of Policy Studies, Queen’s University and as a lecturer at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. Dr. Axworthy was a Senior Policy Advisor to the federal government in the 1970’s and 1980’s, including holding the position of Chief of Staff to Prime Minister Trudeau. He is the author of many books and articles most notably: Towards a Just Society: The Trudeau Years and Searching for the New Liberalism: Perspectives, Policies, Prospects. For his contribution to heritage and public policy he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2002.
