Contributor Biography
Scott Henderson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication, Popular Culture, and Film at Brock University, where he has been teaching since 1991. He received his BA in History and English from Trent University and his MA and PhD from the School of Film and Television Studies at the University of East Anglia, Norwich.
Scott has taught a broad range of courses covering various aspects of popular culture, including film, youth culture, sport media, and popular music. His publications have addressed diverse concerns such as Canadian radio policy, Canadian cinema and television, gay and lesbian cinema, and British cinema. His current research interests include examining the relationship between popular culture and identity in the music scenes of Saint-Etienne, France, Glasgow, Scotland, and Hamilton, Ontario. Scott also maintains a keen interest in the impact and role of new media in shaping cultural identity. He is currently president of the Mid-Atlantic Popular and American Culture Association and serves on the executive board of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music’s Canadian branch.
