Magali Simard

Contributor Biography
Magali Simard is a short film programmer and coordinator of Canadian programming at TIFF, and she has been with the organization since 2006. Working on Canadian initiatives such as programming for TIFF Cinematheque, the organization’s world-renowned screening programme; Canada’s Top Ten, an annual event that celebrates and raises awareness of Canadian cinematic achievements; Canadian films at the Toronto International Film Festival®; and the Student Film Showcase, an event which showcases a diverse and exciting range of emerging student work including animation, documentary, fiction, and experimental films. She is an associate programmer for Canadian works at the Festival, and the sole programmer for the Student Film Showcase. She also participated in the production of film notes for the recent TIFF publication, Toronto on Film, has hosted panel discussions for Ryerson University and written for various local online publications. Simard was a jury member for the 2009 and 2010 annual Alberta Film and Television Awards, and is on the short film jury for the 2010 Outfest in Los Angeles.
