Contributor Biography
Dr. Huish is Assistant Professor in International Development Studies at Dalhousie University where he currently teaches courses on Global Health, Poverty and Human Rights, Development, and Activism. The 2004 Trudeau Scholar holds a Ph.D in geography from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia and a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow at L’Université de Montréal. His research rests between the pursuit of global health equity and the understanding of public health ethics.
He has published widely in public health, social science and Latin American studies journals. His current research interests include: the ethics of medical education, health care worker migration, and social tolerance for massive inequities in health care provision.
He has had extensive experience in studying health care initiatives loaded into Cuba’s foreign policy; as well he has conducted research on the relationship between medical education and health inequities in Africa, South America and South-East Asia.
