Marilyn Sandford is in private practice in Vancouver with the law firm Ritchie Sandford. She was called to the bar of British Columbia in 1990, after having obtained her law degree from Dalhousie University, a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton University. Ms. Sandford’s practice involves criminal defence and civil litigation. In recent years she has acted as defence counsel in the murder trial of Robert William Pickton, represented in a civil lawsuit against B.C. Ferries two children who lost their father as a result of the sinking of the B.C. Ferries vessel The Queen of the North, and represented Ivan Henry, wrongly convicted and imprisoned for 27 years, in his successful appeal of his criminal convictions to the British Columbia Court of Appeal.
