Françoise  Baylis

Dr. Baylis is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in bioethics and philosophy at Dalhousie University. She has a long-standing interest in issues of identity, community and justice, and has published extensively on ethical issues relevant to women's reproductive health, research involving humans (including embryo research, stem cell research and cloning research), and novel technologies.

Recent publications on these and related topics appear in The Hastings Center Report, Journal of Medical Ethics, Bioethics, American Journal of Bioethics, Public Health Ethics, Social Science in Medicine, and the Cambridge Quarterly of Health Care Ethics.

Professor Baylis is an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and an elected Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. She is recognized in Who's Who in Black Canada and in Canadian Who's Who.
