Last Sunday’s elections were the first experience with democracy for most Tunisians.

Ron Laufer is a Vancouver based electoral consultant. Ron has extensive experience administering or observing electoral events in Canada and abroad. Working with organizations such as the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the Carter Center, his beliefs in strengthening democracy have taken him to places such as Kyrgyzstan and Nigeria as well as others like Ukraine and Austria. Ron led Kosovo’s 2007 Out of Country Voting Program and served within Electoral Complaints Commission’s in Afghanistan in 2005 and Kosovo in 2001 and 2002.
Born and raised in Vancouver, Ron serves on a variety boards, including
Vancouver Vision. He holds a MSc. in International Relations from the University of Edinburgh and a Bachelors of Commerce from the University of Victoria. He also completed his thesis entitled “Warlords at the Gate: Armed Groups and Power in the 2005 Afghan Elections”.
