Dr. Williams is an associate professor of sociology at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. His areas of research and teaching are social movements, political sociology, sociology of culture, sociology of religion, racism, and sociology of science. He is the author of African-American Religion and the Civil Rights Movement in Arkansas (University Press of Mississippi, 2003). He has published numerous articles examining culture’s role in sustaining and challenging social order. His forthcoming book, Decoding Racial Ideology in Genomics (Lexington Books, 2013) examines the complex role racialized culture plays in genome research.
