Jan Cooper

Contributor Biography
Jan Cooper is a PhD student in Health Services and Policy Analysis at the University of California, Berkeley. At Berkeley, Jan is focusing on Population Health, emphasizing health in developing countries, and is exploring the social determinants of health, decisions of distributive justice, and the allocation of scarce health resources.
Ms. Cooper recently returned from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. There, she worked for the Harvard School of Public Health as Study Coordinator for a multi-country clinical trail investigating the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
In addition to her work in Tanzania, Jan has worked with the Center for Global Health at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), conducted HIV research in South India, worked as a Junior Professional Consultant at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome, Italy, and conducted research at the Rhode Island State Department of Health to assess state-level programs and children’s access to health care in the state.
She holds a Master of Public Health from Brown University and a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from McGill University.
Jan is originally from Montreal.
