Contributor Biography

Mr. Roach has a BA and MA in political science from the University of Calgary. He has been with Canada West Foundation since 1995 and has worked on a broad array of public policy topics including economic development, local government, demographic trends, the nonprofit sector, public opinion, regional cooperation, environmental policy, democratic reform, and public finance.

He served as the Foundation’s Director of Research from 2004-2009. When the opportunity arose to take the reins of an exciting major new project called The West in Canada, he jumped at the chance. He is looking forward to this new chapter in his career at the Foundation.

He has been President of the Economics Society of Calgary, is a Course Director and Instructor in the University of Alberta/Dalhousie University National Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration, and is the Vice Chair of the Calgary Arts Academy (a public charter school focused on arts immersion as a teaching method). Born in Edmonton, he has called Calgary home since 1974.
