Mr. Arnold is Principal of J Arnold & Associates (JAA), an independent telecom analyst and marketing consultancy based in Toronto, Ontario. JAA’s primary focus is on IP communications and disruptive technologies, such as VoIP, mobile broadband, IPTV, telepresence, unified communications, peer-to-peer, social media and Web 2.0. His client base covers the full industry gamut, including: startups, mid-market vendors, incumbent vendors, all types of service providers, the financial community and PR/marketing firms.

Previously, he was the VoIP Program Leader at Frost & Sullivan, where he was responsible for managing their subscription service for Global VoIP Equipment Markets. In March 2008, he and fellow consultant Marc Robins launched IP Communications Insights – an industry portal designed to provide a broader voice for independent analysis and showcase their combined research, consulting and reporting services.

In May 2008, his blog, "Analyst 2.0", got a lot of attention – Blogged.com rated it number one among all Telecom blogs, VoIP Now included his blog on their Top 100 and in 2007, VoIP News included it as one of the Top 25 VoIP Blogs. In July 2008, Guy Kawasaki's Alltop portal included "Analyst 2.0" in their group of Top VoIP blogs. Subsequently, he has been added to the Editorial Advisory Board of Business Trends Quarterly, and the Advisory Board for the 2009 eComm conference. He also serves as an Advisor to several emerging tech/telecom companies.

He writes a bi-monthly column – "Service Provider Views" – for TMCnet and is a Gerson Lehrman Group Leader, a member of their Telecommunications Council, where his advice is regularly sought out by the finance and investment community. He is also an expert contributor to Tech Target’s SearchUnifiedCommunications.com portal and regularly speaks at VoIP and telecom conferences, including TMC IT Expo, eComm, VON, NXTcomm, Pacific Telecom Council, IT360 and the Canadian Institute.

He is frequently quoted in the business and trade press, radio and television, including: Business Week, Forbes, TheDeal.com, TheStreet.com, IT Business Edge.com, Light Reading.com, IT Business.ca, ITWorld Canada.ca, Tech Media Reports.ca, The Globe and Mail, Financial Post, Toronto Star, CBS Radio, Bloomberg Radio and BNN TV. On other media fronts, he produced a weekly podcast featuring Canadian tech/telecom executives for Pulvermedia for over two years, wrote a monthly newsletter for a prominent U.S. investment bank, and served as Editor for industry portal IP Convergence TV.
