Contributor Biography
Mr. Sawyer is the Principal at Two Solitudes Consulting, focusing on the changing face of entertainment and communications with a particular emphasis on the television space. Prior to founding Two Solitudes in 2006, he was a Senior Consultant in the digital media and media and entertainment practices of IBM Canada’s management consulting business. He authored IBM’s acclaimed The Future Of Television In Canada and The End Of Television As We Know It – A Canadian Perspective; and co-authored TELUS’s A Friendly Future For New Media whitepaper for the 2008 Banff World Television Festival.
He has an extensive background in digital content and brings a unique combination of technical and business perspectives to his analysis of emerging technologies and business models. He has worked with companies and organizations across many facets of the media and telecommunications industries.
He is also currently developing highly innovative entertainment concepts that combine television, the Internet and social media to unprecedented degrees.
He is a frequent commentator on media, telecom and convergence in print and on radio and television and is a frequent speaker at media and telecommunications conferences. He has written for Broadcast Engineering Magazine, Playback Magazine and the Toronto Star as well as his own periodical, The Two Solitudes Journal.
