Contributor Biography
Nick Van der Graaf is a Toronto writer, and as a reporter he covered politics and elections in Canada, the United States, and South Africa. He has worked with the pro-choice movement for more than 20 years, and sat on the National Council of Fair Vote Canada, an advocacy organization promoting electoral reform.
Through Canadians Advocating Political Participation (CAPP-Toronto) he organizes the monthly speakers series Democracy Café. In addition he serves on the board of directors of the Civics Education Network (CEN), a teacher-driven organization dedicated to improving the quality of civics education in Ontario.
His interest in the natural sciences led him to found GeoSpace Planetarium, a Toronto green development project, for which he was nominated for the Canadian Urban Institute's 2009 Urban Leadership Award. He blogs at http://neodemokratia.ca/
