Last Contribution: The Life of the Bartender

Contributor Biography

Mr. Soole exported himself from Australia to Canada about 3 and a half years ago in search of new, greener pastures. His career started just over a decade ago in Brisbane, beginning as a waiter and then finding his passion for bartending. He bartended and managed some of the city’s most upscale and contemporary cocktail bars, restaurants, and resorts, including Jorge, Vino’s, and the only five-star resort in the Whitsundays – Hayman Island. In the few years leading up to leaving for Canada, he organized, judged, and competed in numerous mixology and flair tending competitions. He won his first Australian Bartenders Guild State Title at the age of 21, was named one of Australia’s “Best Bartenders,” and had recipes published in various publications across the country.

Experience in grassroots bartending to executive management, and work in diverse environments such as restaurants, wine and cocktail bars, flair tending bars, and boutique beer cafes has given him insight to every facet of the industry. He is currently living in British Columbia, manning the bar at the Chateau Victoria Hotel in Clive’s Classic Lounge, a classic hotel lobby bar with a modern edge and serving drinks made with only the best ingredients, freshly-squeezed juices, and imported beer.

His company The Liquid Revolution is developing a line of bar tools, the first of which being the VIVA! Stick, an affordable and cutting-edge designed muddler available worldwide. The latest extension of The Liquid Revolution is the House of Bitters, a company devoted entirely to importing bitters from the overseas for the Canadian bar industry. He is also Senior Editor and Master Mixologist of Chilled Magazine, a nightlife magazine that will be covering everything from mixology, to DJs, to wine, and all other aspects of the industry. He also writes for a number of magazines include Liquor Canada, Publican, Bar Magazine Slovakia, Bar & Club Australia, and many smaller publications locally.

He recently appeared on the national TV show Cityline, spoke at bar shows in Rhode Island, Calgary, and Halifax, was voted one of the Top 40 Foodies under 40 in Western Living, and has been featured in Bar & Beverage Magazine, Sante Magazine, EAT BC, About.com, F&B Magazine, Imbibe, and local publications. He is set to become a frequent MC for Canada’s Cocktail Competition.
