Dr. Samuel is CEO of Social Signal, one of the world’s most experienced social media agencies. Founded in 2005, Social Signal offers training, resources and advice that help organizations develop the strategic insight, technical skills, and business knowledge for social media success. Through Social Signal, she has conceived and led online community projects for clients including TechSoup’s NetSquared, the Mountain Equipment Co-op, The Elders, B.C. Hydro, and Vancity.
She holds a Ph.D in political science from Harvard University, where her doctoral research focused on the creative frontiers of online activism. As the Research Director for Digital 4Sight’s Governance in the Digital Economy, she worked with Wikinomics author Don Tapscott to create and guide a three-year investigation into the future of government and democracy for a consortium of twenty governments and businesses from around the world.
Her writing on technology issues has appeared in media outlets like the Toronto Star, CBC Radio, Business 2.0, and the Chronicle of Higher Education. She speaks widely on social media, and blogs at alexandrasamuel.com, socialsignal.com, and Harvard Business Online.
