Shauna Labman’s doctoral dissertation explores the intersection of rights, responsibility, and obligation in the absence of a legal scheme for refugee resettlement. Her research developed out of earlier work for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in New Delhi, India where she prepared resettlement referrals for Afghan refugees and conducted refugee status determinations of asylum seekers.
Ms. Labman is a lawyer and member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. She has previously worked for the Canadian Embassy in Beijing, the Federal Court of Appeal, the Nunavut Court of Justice, and the Law Commission of Canada.
