Mr. Shapiro is the UK/EU manager for CIMA, the Canadian Independent Music Association. CIMA is Canada's largest music trade association, and helps promote the export activities of Canadian companies and bands while assisting European companies and bands importing into Canada. It promotes events, advocates for stronger policy, assists in infrastructural development, and develops stronger networks internationally.

Before that, he was a press manager at One Little Indian and FatCat Records. He is also an internationally published music journalist, currently working for a dozen magazines in six countries. He lives in North London.
