Herbert Emery

Contributor Biography
Dr. Emery teaches at the University of Calgary's Department of Economics and its Faculty of Medicine's Department of Community Health Services as the Svare Professor in Health Economics.
He played a key role in developing a series of research papers on the provision and financing of health care recently released by The School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary.
Dr. Emery's research interests include the rise of public health insurance before 1930, the sustainability and reform of public health care in Canada, and Western Canadian economic development. His work has been published in the Canadian Journal of Economics, Journal of Labor Economics, Contemporary Economic Policy, Health Policy, Canadian Public Policy, Policy Options, and Fraser Forum.
He received his BA (Honours) in economics from Queen's University and his MA and PhD in economics from the University of British Columbia.
