Amelita Armit

Amelita Armit is President and CEO of the Parliamentary Centre. Mrs.Armit joined the Centre in 2005 as Program Director for Asia and Eastern Europe and subsequently became Vice President, Programs. Prior to this, Mrs. Armit had a distinguished public service career, including twenty years as Assistant Deputy Minister in the Canadian and Alberta governments in the Ministries of Health, Social Services and the Public Service Commission. Her areas of expertise include program design and delivery of health and social services, public service reform, public policy development, strategic planning and human resource management.
Mrs. Armit holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Economics) from the University of the Philippines and a Master in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. Mrs. Armit served as Chair of the Edmonton Regional Group and of the Research Committee of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada. Her service to her community and profession has been recognized with the Queen Elizabeth Silver Jubilee Medal (1977) , the Queen Elizabeth Golden Jubilee Medal (2002) and the 125th Commemorative Medal of the Confederation of Canada (1992). She also received the Pamana Award from the Republic of the Philippines for Professional Achievement and Honour to the Filipino People in 2000. Mrs. Armit is currently a member of the Board and Chair of the Governance Committee of Algonquin College.
