Contributor Biography

Ms. Chan is currently a Trudeau Scholar at the Oxford University Faculty of Law, where she is pursuing doctoral research on foreign models of voluntary sector regulation, and seeking to develop principles and criteria for the regulation of voluntary organizations in Canada.

Ms. Chan is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, and an executive member of the Charities and Not-for-Profit Law section of the Canadian Bar Association. She is affiliated with the Benefic Group, a boutique firm in Vancouver that provides strategic, legal, and operational advice to persons involved in the voluntary sector. She has published and lectured in the areas of charity and development law, religious freedom, and human rights and legal pluralism. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto and McGill law faculties, as well as the Faculty of Music at McGill.
