Dr. Melman is Chairman and CEO of Nevele Partners Inc. Previously, he was a Managing Director of Onex Corporation until January 2006 having joined the company at its inception in 1984. During the 22 years that he spent at Onex, Dr. Melman made an enormous contribution to its success, creating billions of dollars in value for the company’s shareholders and investment partners.
Prior to joining Onex Corporation, Dr. Melman was Senior Vice President of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in charge of worldwide merchant banking, project financing, acquisitions and other specialized financing activities from 1977 to 1984. Prior to immigrating to Canada in 1977, he had extensive merchant banking experience in South Africa and the U.K.
Dr. Melman is also Chairman of The Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care, one of the world's premier academic health sciences centers focused on aging. Recently, Dr. Melman was appointed to the board of Ontario Lottery Gaming Corporation. He has also served as a director of various companies for many years.
Dr. Melman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of The Witwatersrand, a Master of Business Administration degree (gold medalist) from the University of Cape Town, and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of The Witwatersrand.
