Simon Donner

Contributor Biography
Simon Donner is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of British Columbia. He leads a broad program of teaching and research at the interface of climate science, marine science, ecology, and public policy. His work examines the societal and ecological impacts of climate change and helps develop effective strategies for adaptation and mitigation. He is also actively involved in public outreach, regularly writing about climate change via the blog Maribo and speaking in public forums.
Donner joined UBC in 2008 after several years as a scientist at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. He has a B.Arts.Sci. from McMaster University, a M.E.M. in Water and Air Resources from Duke University, and a Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from the University of Wisconsin. He is currently an associate in UBC's Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability, UBC's Atmospheric Sciences Program, and the Institute of the Environment at the University of Minnesota. He is also a 2009 Aldo Leopold Leadership Fellow.
