Contributor Biography
Jaime Woo is a tech and social media commentator who launched the role of Social Media Editor at top city blog Torontoist and has had his writing also appear in NOW, Xtra, and the Financial Post. He has worked on communications projects for Pride Toronto, helping to bring World Pride 2014 to Canada; Toronto Community Foundation; ChangeCamp; and, Holt Renfrew. Jaime's video work has been recognized by the Luminato Arts and Creativity Festival and featured on the popular CBC radio program Here and Now.
Jaime has focused on using social media and technology to benefit nonprofits and community efforts. He has worked with organizations such as the CLGA and the Friends For Life Bike Rally to reshape online strategies and messaging. He presented at tech industry stalwart SxSW Interactive and has been asked to participate in the inaugural NxNW Interactive conference.
Jaime has worked as a research scientist in molecular biology and proudly self-identifies as a nerd. He is also a vocal supporter of Toronto's independent game development community and is the co-founder of Gamercamp.ca. He believes bios should always end on a slightly goofy and self-aware note.
