Alana Samson is the former Deputy Editor of Business and Science & Technology for The Mark. She is currently the director of research for Madison Breast Imaging and a research associate at Metropolitan Hospital with the Department of Emergency Medicine in New York. She has worked as a general surgery and GI oncology clinical sub-intern with the Department of Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto since 2010 and is hoping to pursue a career as a surgical oncologist. Towards this end, she is completing her Postbac Premedical Certificate at Columbia University in May and hoping to complete a Masters degree in public health and start medical school in 2014.
In her former career as an editor, Alana Samson came to The Mark having worked in online media, book and magazine publishing, and in film production, where she has experience working as an editor, writer, in design, development and acquisitions. She has broad interests in current affairs, health policy and education, as well as in history, fine art and film. She has an Bachelor of Arts (Hon.) in intellectual history from the University of Toronto and a Masters degree in modern history from the University of Oxford.
