Ivy Knight has cooked professionally for the past 10 years. During that time, she has worked for Anthony Walsh, David Chrystian, Mark Cutrara, and Anthony Rose in Toronto, as well as David Garrido in Texas. She’s currently working behind the scenes with Lynn Crawford on her Food Network show, Pitchin' In.
Ivy hosts a weekly industry evening at the Drake Hotel. These “86'd Mondays” bring people in Toronto's food and wine industry together for drinks and the occasional competition, where chefs vie for the top prize in battles for best meatball, boozy hot chocolate or chilli & cornbread.
Ivy also maintains social media and website content for clients through her company, Swallow Food Media, and hosts a radio show on CIUT 89.5 that showcases people and food from all over Ontario and New York state. Swallow Food Radio introduces listeners to farmers, butchers, food celebrities, and authors.
As a freelance food writer, Ivy has written for the Globe & Mail, the Toronto Star, Toronto Life, City Bites, Good Food Revolution, eGullet.org, and Gremolata, and been included in a Best Food Writing compilation by Perseus Press. During her career, Ivy has interviewed Jacques Pepin, Michel Roux, Michael Smith, Kevin Brauch, and Ruth Reichl among others.
Ivy Knight is a Maritimer with a penchant for light beer, Stompin' Tom, and lobster.
