Contributor Biography

Devon Page is a veteran environmental lawyer and the current Executive Director for Ecojustice Canada.

Born in 1963 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, Devon studied law at University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 1994. Called to the bar in Saskatchewan in 1995 and British Columbia in 2001, Devon spent his early career in a litigation private practice before joining Ecojustice (then Sierra Legal Defence Fund) in 2001. Devon worked for seven years as an environmental litigator before becoming Executive Director.

Among his numerous contributions were some of the earliest lawsuits brought under Canada’s Species at Risk Act, several lawsuits for the protection of Canada’s northern spotted owl, and most notably, a groundbreaking intervention at the Supreme Court of Canada in 2004 that gained recognition for the full economic value of natural resources, including non market benefits, in cases of environmental harm.

Devon currently lives in Vancouver with his wife Paula and their golden retriever Willow.
